The Exit Ramp Was Always the Point: On the Capture of Bitcoin Core and the Blessing of BIP-110’s Failure
When the Empire Finally Takes the Code, the Right Hearts Will Build Again
Good morning, and hello friends.
We were attracted to it because it was a way for us to preserve our work in a way that would not be fleeced, eroded, or extracted over time through inflation and other financial engineering schemes. We saw it as a way to preserve the forty hours of work we produced this week for a time in the future where those forty hours were not diluted and stolen from over time. Forty hours this week should be forty hours in ten years when I need it or want to use it.
On 8/8, we learned that Bitcoin Core has been captured. And we are slowly coming to the realization that it likely had been captured for some time. We just did not know it until 8/8.
I am not going to pretend that I am a technical person that knows the code. Because I am not. But I understand the bits of the Bitcoin ethos that attracted me to the community and its philosophy.
I was surprised in the late 20-teens when bitcoin went from a thing we secretly held and no one knew you had it or knew anything about it, to a thing that CEOs of publicly traded companies were talking about how great it was on TV. They were declaring on TV that they too owned and were buying it.
For a while during this season, when BTC was going from a relative underground trend to a mainstream conversation, I thought to myself, whew, I do not need to worry about certain aspects of knowing how to use a piece of software and whether it was legal or not. Why? Because of course there were loads of videos on the internet of CEOs of publicly traded companies confessing they owned and were actively buying it.
Well, in short order, Wall Street got its fangs and a foothold into that very underground tech. Then followed by presidential candidates, federal regulators, and the banks.
During this whole season of bitcoin’s emergence from being an underground piece of software that people used to buy drugs on Silk Road, to something that grandma and grandpa could and did add to their 401k portfolios and other investment accounts, the software was being consolidated and centralized by the same forces that coopted our labor and proof of work via state issued fiat notes.
Fast forward to August 2026, and we discover that those same forces bitcoin was invented as an exit ramp to escape from have covertly captured the code. They have been orchestrating that code’s roadmap towards increased centralization.
Yes, it was a heartbreaking revelation. Especially for those that have emotionally invested in the movement for a long time.
But on the flip side, I see the failure of the BIP-110 implementation as a blessing. At least we no longer walk as sheep into the beautifully decorated prison of work extraction. Instead, we now know that the software has been captured, and it is basically like any of the many other fiat schemes readily available via the fiat regulated markets. Schemes designed to extract the many hours of work we do every week via their tax and other inflationary slave models.
BIP-110 failure is a blessing.
This reminds me of what I wrote in “The Front Porch Lesson: Why Yahuah’s Sharpest Corrections Save Us.” The most painful experiences we endure are the ones that imprint us the deepest. The sharper the correction, the faster we learn it. The more deeply it becomes imprinted. This weekend was a sharp correction. It hurt. But it imprinted a truth we needed to see.
It is a blessing because the right hearts with the right motives will see this failure as the blessing that it really is. They will find a new path to continue and improve on what Satoshi Nakamoto intended his contribution to be. And in the pursuit of those intentions, we will make bitcoin decentralized again, with the benefit of past mistakes deeply imprinted on our minds.
This is the walk of faith. We do not always see the destination. We do not always have a map for the journey. But we trust the One who does. In “The Known Destination, The Unseen Path,“ I wrote about how the “how” is what distinguishes the work of the Father from that of our own efforts and resourcefulness. The same applies here. We know the destination. Decentralization. Preservation of work. An exit ramp from the empire’s extraction. We do not know the path yet. But the right hearts will find it.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths” (ESV).
I do not know what the next iteration of this project looks like. I do not know the names or the hashes. But I know the intention. And I know the hearts that are being drawn to carry it forward. The same way Yahuah draws the right people to the right work at the right time.
This is also a lesson about where we place our trust. In “The Only Benchmark: Why Yahusha’s Perfection Sets Us Free,“ I wrote about how we are not defined by our own works or our own righteousness. We are defined by whose we are. The same applies to our tools. Bitcoin was never the savior. It was a tool. A good tool. A tool that served a purpose. But tools can be captured. Tools can be coopted. Only the Father is unchanging.
Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (ESV).
What a time to be alive. We get to witness the unmasking of the empire’s latest scheme. We get to see clearly what was hidden. And we get to be part of building what comes next.
I am no seer. Just a humble servant of the Most High Yahuah and His only begotten Son, Yahusha, my King, Lord, and Savior.
One path leads to consent and compliance to the empire, the other path leads to His Kingdom and we understand that may come with a huge side order of persecution and hatred. He also told there would be and to remember that He was hated first.
