283 The First Business of the Day: Kingdom or Empire?
Why What You Do Before Dawn Defines Everything That Follows
Good morning, and hello friends.
A realization has been settling in my spirit these past two years, clear as the first light: there are two kinds of business each day. Kingdom business and empire business. One fills your schedule; the other fills your soul. One keeps you busy; the other, when done first, gives you peace.
I’ve learned that Kingdom business must get done before empire business. It happens in the quiet dawn, in the 3 a.m. whisper when the Father wakes you to talk. It’s the sacred appointment before the world’s matrix boots up. Empire business, the jobs, the chores, the logistics, operates in that matrix. It can happen anytime. The tricky, beautiful part is that God, in His sovereignty, often uses our faithful empire business for His Kingdom purposes. The work of our hands becomes an instrument in His.
“But what is Kingdom business?” you might ask.
It is simply obedience. It’s seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness (Matthew 14:33). It’s the “yes” whispered in the dark before the day demands its noise. That call to pray for someone, that nudge to open His Word, that quiet act of surrender for the day ahead…this is the business that matters most. We rarely see the full picture of what He is building through our small acts of compliance. Our part isn’t to understand the blueprint, but to be the willing laborer. As Yahusha said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments” (John 14:15).
The main and only objective is our obedience. The outcome is His.
So, as this new day stretches before you, ask yourself: Have you taken care of the Kingdom business your Father placed before you? Have you met with Him in the dawn? The empire will always make its demands. But the Kingdom grants the peace to meet them.
