After these (almost) two years of reading my Bible almost daily, of wading through its infinite wisdom, its brutal history, its cosmic science and its raw sociology, I keep arriving at the same, simple, terrifying conclusion.

For the believer, for the walker of The Way, the point of the story isn’t hidden in a cryptic verse or a distant prophecy. It’s spelled out in black and white. It’s the architecture. It’s the ten stones upon which everything else is built. We read them in Exodus, we hear them repeated in Deuteronomy: “I am the LORD your God… You shall have no other gods before me…” and on it goes, through the prohibitions against carving images, taking His name in vain, breaking the Sabbath, dishonoring parents, murder, adultery, theft, lying, and coveting.

For a long time, I saw these as The List. The divine rules. The things you shouldn’t do if you want to stay on God’s good side. A moral checklist for the spiritually ambitious.

But the longer I walk, the more I see that’s like calling the foundation of a house a “list of rocks.” You’re not wrong, but you’re missing the entire point of the dwelling.

These commandments are not God’s arbitrary preferences. They are the manufacturer’s manual for the human soul. They are the loving design specifications from the Creator, explaining how this fragile, powerful thing called a human being is meant to function without short-circuiting, without corroding from the inside out, without collapsing under the weight of its own disordered desires.

“You shall have no other gods before me.” This isn’t rule number one in a contest. It’s the primary law of spiritual physics. When anything, a person, an ideology, a comfort, a fear, a political tribe, your own reputation, occupies the throne that belongs to God, the entire system warps. Every other dysfunction flows from this first dislocation.

“You shall not covet.” This isn’t about policing thoughts. It’s the final safeguard against the internal rot that makes murder, adultery, and theft not just possible, but inevitable. It’s a command to find your contentment in the boundary of your own life, in the provision of your Father.

And then, you come to the words of Yahusha. A lawyer asks Him to simplify, to reduce the vast, intimidating legal code to its essence. And He does. He takes the ten foundational stones and shows us the two pillars they were meant to support all along.

“‘Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. And you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.’ The second is this: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ There is no other commandment greater than these.”

This is the revelation. The Ten Commandments are not replaced; they are explained. They are the practical, granular outworking of these two loves.

How do you love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength?

You have no other gods (Commandment 1).

You make no carved image to represent Him (2).

You do not use His name as a empty charm or curse (3).

You honor the Sabbath He created, setting apart time for Him alone (4).

How do you love your neighbor as yourself?

You honor the ones who gave you life (5).

You protect their life (6).

You honor their sacred bonds (7).

You respect their property (8).

You protect their reputation with truth (9).

And you guard your own heart against the seed of desire for what is theirs (10).

Leaning into this, obeying this, studying this, implementing this, this is the path. This is “The Way.” It’s not a mystical secret. It’s the daily, sometimes grinding, work of aligning our loves.

To love God above all is to dethrone every other idol. To love my neighbor as myself is to see their life, their dignity, their relationships, their possessions, their truth, as being as sacred as my own. It is the death of the selfish “I.”

This is the meaning. This is the purpose. We are here to learn how to love. Specifically. Practically. Radically. The Ten Commandments are the curriculum. The life of Yahusha is the lived example. The Spirit is the tutor.

When we treat these as philosophical ideas, we remain adrift. When we lean into them as the manual, obey them as the loving instruction of a Father, study them as the map of a healed relationship, and implement them as the daily practice of our faith, that is when we begin to fulfill the purpose for which we were made.

We become people who love God. And from that impossible, all-consuming love flows a genuine, practical love for the person next to us. It’s that simple. It’s that hard. It’s the only point of the story.

The manual is open on the workbench. The stones are heavy in our hands. The two sentences are written on our hearts. The work is today.

Walk in it.

I don’t wander often into fiction. But this morning, I woke up with a creative itch. So I sat down, fed some quirky parameters into the machine, and blended them with a few Bible passages that have been living rent-free in my head lately. This is what came out. I sat with it for a bit, and it resonated. So I’m sharing it with you.

In the days of the fathers, when the people dwelt in the land given to them, a word was spoken that became a curse woven into their bones: “You will soon utterly perish from the land… And the LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and you will be left few in number among the nations where the LORD will drive you.” They had forgotten. They had grown old in the land and acted corruptly, making carved images and doing what was evil in the sight of the LORD their God, provoking Him to anger. Heaven and earth themselves stood as witnesses against them.

So it came to pass. The One who had gathered them now scattered them. The winds of judgment blew from the four corners of the earth, and they were driven out. The once-chosen people were pulled from their ancestral soil and cast like seafoam upon the shores of strange lands. They were carried to the north country, to the coasts of the sea, to Egypt and Pathros, to Cush and Elam, to Shinar and Hamath, to Assyria. They were taken to the east country and the west country, their bonds burst only to be reforged in foreign shapes. They became servants in lands not their own, where they served gods of wood and stone that could not see, hear, eat, or smell.

Generations turned to dust in exile. In the far north, under iron skies, a people once called Israel huddled against the cold, their songs of Zion replaced by the guttural tongues of their captors. Their children knew the stories of a land flowing with milk and honey as a fairy tale, a cruel joke whispered before a meager fire. They faced contempt and violence, a byword among nations. In the southern deserts, others labored under a relentless sun, building monuments to kings who knew not Jacob. Their identity faded, bleached by the sun and seared by the lash. To the west, across the Great Sea, families were bartered and sold, their lineage dissolving into the sprawl of empires that rose and fell. In the eastern empires of vast wealth and deeper decadence, they were pressed into service, their souls dwindling like a guttering lamp.

They were few in number. They were outcasts in the uttermost parts of heaven. They were the remnant, a people overflowing with unrighteousness, leaning on those who struck them. Destruction had been decreed. A full end was promised to all the earth. They wandered, a flock without a shepherd, fearing, dismayed, many missing. They walked through fires of persecution and were consumed by waves of assimilation. The yoke was on their neck; foreigners made servants of them.

This was their portion for days without number. The world listened to its own; it spoke from the world, and the world heard it. A spirit of error covered the earth, a strong delusion given to those who refused to love the truth and had pleasure in unrighteousness. The ruler of that world worked with all power and false signs and wonders, and with all wicked deception. Yet, in their tribulation, a memory stirred. A law written on the heart, not on stone, echoed. “But from there you will seek the LORD your God and you will find him, if you search after him with all your heart and with all your soul… For the LORD your God is a merciful God. He will not leave you or destroy you or forget the covenant with your fathers that he swore to them.”

And so, in hidden rooms and barren fields, by foreign rivers and in slave quarters, they began to return. Not in body, but in spirit. They turned their faces toward a name they had nearly forgotten. They sought the LORD their God. They obeyed His voice from the depths of their distress. They were the blind and the lame, the pregnant woman and she who was in labor, brought low by the journey. They came with weeping and pleas for mercy. They chose the things that pleased Him. They held fast to a covenant they could barely remember. They kept their hand from doing any evil. They sought justice and did righteousness, waiting for a salvation they could not see.

And the LORD heard.

A day, great and like no other, a time of distress for Jacob, was also the dawn of his salvation. The word had come to the prophets: “Write in a book all the words that I have spoken to you. For behold, days are coming, declares the LORD, when I will restore the fortunes of my people, Israel and Judah, and I will bring them back to the land that I gave to their fathers, and they shall take possession of it.”

Thus says the Lord GOD: “I will bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you are scattered, with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm, and with wrath poured out.” He who had scattered would now gather. He who had driven them with wrath would now lead them back with the tenderness of a father. “I will make them walk by brooks of water, in a straight path in which they shall not stumble, for I am a father to Israel, and Ephraim is my firstborn.”

The call went forth, a signal raised for the nations. “He will raise a signal for the nations and will assemble the banished of Israel, and gather the dispersed of Judah from the four corners of the earth.” To the north, He said, “Give up.” To the south, “Do not withhold.” He commanded: “Bring my sons from afar and my daughters from the end of the earth.” From the farthest parts of the earth, from the coastlands far away, He saved them. “I will save my people from the east country and from the west country, and I will bring them to dwell in the midst of Jerusalem.”

A great company, the remnant that remained, began the journey home. Not the great multitude as the sand of the sea, but a remnant saved. They leaned no longer on him who struck them, but on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel, in truth. They were the flock, once fragmented, now gathered. “Then I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all the countries where I have driven them, and I will bring them back to their fold, and they shall be fruitful and multiply. I will set shepherds over them who will care for them, and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall any be missing, declares the LORD.”

They returned to the land of Jacob. They rebuilt the ruined cities and inhabited them. They planted vineyards and drank their wine. They made gardens and ate their fruit. They built houses and dwelt securely. None made them afraid. The LORD executed judgments upon all their neighbors who had treated them with contempt. They were cleansed. They defiled themselves no more with idols or detestable things. “I will save them from all the backslidings in which they have sinned, and will cleanse them; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.” He manifested His holiness in them in the sight of the nations. He was their God in faithfulness and in righteousness.

But the story did not end with the bloodline of Jacob alone. For the word had also gone out: “Hear the word of the LORD, O nations, and declare it in the coastlands far away.” The gathering was not merely a return of flesh, but a ingathering of spirit. The root of Jesse stood as a signal for the peoples. The nations inquired of him.

And the LORD, who gathers the outcasts of Israel, declared: “I will gather yet others to him besides those already gathered.” Who were these others? The foreigner who had joined himself to the LORD. The one who, though not born of the scattering, said, “The LORD will surely separate me from his people.” To them, the word came: Do not say you are a dry tree.

For thus said the LORD: “To the eunuchs who keep my Sabbaths, who choose the things that please me and hold fast my covenant, I will give in my house and within my walls a monument and a name better than sons and daughters; I will give them an everlasting name that shall not be cut off. And the foreigners who join themselves to the LORD, to minister to him, to love the name of the LORD, and to be his servants, everyone who keeps the Sabbath and does not profane it, and holds fast my covenant…these I will bring to my holy mountain, and make them joyful in my house of prayer; their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be accepted on my altar; for my house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples.”

The path was open. It was not of blood, but of spirit. It was of holding fast. It was of choosing the things that please Him. The one who worked, presenting themselves to God as one approved, a worker unashamed, rightly handling the word of truth, such a one could find a place. They would be grafted in. They would be brought to the holy mountain. They would partake of the joy. They would be gathered to the already-gathered flock.

A king was raised up for them, a righteous Branch for David. He would reign and deal wisely, executing justice and righteousness in the land. In his days Judah would be saved, and Israel would dwell securely. His name would be called: ‘The LORD is our righteousness.’ They would serve the LORD their God and David their king. The booth of David, fallen, would be repaired. Its ruins rebuilt.

And the people would say no longer, ‘As the LORD lives who brought up the people of Israel out of the land of Egypt,’ but ‘As the LORD lives who brought up and led the offspring of the house of Israel out of the north country and out of all the countries where he had driven them.’

The final gathering came. “For behold, in those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all the nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. And I will enter into judgment with them there, on behalf of my people and my heritage Israel, because they have scattered them among the nations and have divided up my land.” Justice, long awaited, arrived.

And they dwelt. Secure. Planted. Never to be uprooted again. The promise to the fathers was kept. The scattered were found. The outcasts were brought home. And others, from the four corners, joined them. The tree, once shattered, now stood whole, its branches wider, its roots deeper, its fruit for the healing of the nations.

The LORD had done it.

My mom was placed in “imminent” status last Sunday. The labored breathing, the wheezing, the look of great discomfort, it all signaled the final turn. Since then, a nurse has been at her bedside around the clock. Doctors visit. Medications are managed. We are no longer treating a life; we are shepherding a body toward its end. We manage the symptoms as systems shut down: digestive issues, fevers, the irregular rattle of breath, the water in the lungs. It is a strange, clinical vigil.

I have become the host, the communicator, the point of contact. A stream of family and friends flows through the house. Some local, some from far away. They come to sit, to remember, to say goodbye. I am glad she has this. She always loved being the center of a full room. But the truth is, it is intense. Inconvenient. Exhausting. It is all for her, for what she would have wanted. And on some level, I am thankful for the distraction of the duty. But it means I must literally clear the bedroom to steal a quiet moment with her. To hold her hand, to pray over her, to remind her we are here, we love her, we are thankful. These whispered words in the quiet are the real work.

So where are we this morning?

She has not eaten since Thursday at lunch.

She asked to go to her bed after lunch on Thursday and has not left it.

She closed her eyes Thursday night and they have not opened since.

We give morphine when the moaning comes, usually once a day.

She has not made a sound since yesterday morning.

Apart from the slow, shallow rise of her stomach, there is little sign she is still with us. But “they” say she can hear. So we are careful. We allow only the conversations that would comfort her to fill the space near her bed.

I keep busy. Final arrangements. Ensuring medications are on hand. I started this writing at 8:30 AM. It is now noon. I return to it. She is still breathing. She appears comfortable.

A note. My mom has belonged to an SDA church for over a decade. Her church people came by to pray yesterday. My spirit was in agreement with every word spoken over her. All I ever knew about her church was Saturday services and no meat. But the prayers I heard were consistent with the little I have come to know and experience over these past two years. It was a moment of unexpected unity.

This is the update. The wait continues. Only God knows the exact moment.

I am not sure if I will post anything immediately when she finally departs. There may be no words left, or too many.

I write this article for those walking the narrow path with me. If these words resonate with you, please share them.

A gentle warning: this reflection is not for everyone who is walking that narrow path. It is for those who can answer the next two questions for themselves with confidence.

First, on what basis do you believe Christ’s Millennial reign has already happened? I mean the specific event described here:

“Then I saw an angel coming down from heaven, holding in his hand the key to the bottomless pit and a great chain. And he seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years, and threw him into the pit, and shut it and sealed it over him, so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended. After that he must be released for a little while.”

(Revelation 20:1-3, ESV)

Second, can you clearly say why you suspect our present age as that prophesied “little season”, Satan’s final, short time of release?

If these foundations don’t align with your understanding, please tread lightly. This article isn’t meant for you, and that is okay.

I would also recommend you read the following article before reading this one. It’s a continuation of that discussion.

This article connects dots some might find uncomfortable. It’s a longer read, a heavier lift. The message you find here will be yours alone. Two people will read the same words and have two different conversations with God. I don’t have special knowledge. I just pray, read, and try to connect the threads. Today, the thread runs from the ash heap of Uz straight through to the chaos outside our windows.

I want to talk about Job. And I want to talk about Satan’s “little season.” Because I’m becoming convinced they are the same story, told on two different scales. One is intimate, a man and his loss. The other is cosmic, a world and its seducer. But the architecture is identical. It’s the architecture of a test.

Let’s start with Job. The pattern is so clean it feels like a blueprint.

Part 1: The Blessed Life. “There was a man in the land of Uz whose name was Job, and that man was blameless and upright, one who feared God and turned away from evil” (Job 1:1 ESV). He had it all: wealth, family, health, reputation. He was so upright that God Himself bragged about him to the Adversary. “Have you considered my servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth?” (Job 1:8 ESV). This was his “millennial reign.” A life of peace, prosperity, and favor. Heaven on earth.

Part 2: The Unmaking. In a single, brutal day, it’s all stripped away. Raiders, fire, wind, disease. His children are dead. His wealth is gone. His body is covered in sores. He is reduced to scraping his wounds with a potsherd in an ash heap. His wife tells him to “curse God and die” (Job 2:9 ESV). His friends arrive, not to comfort, but to accuse. They are the original “bad company,” compounding his agony with theological malpractice. They insist his suffering must be punishment for secret sin. They gaslight his integrity. This is the wilderness. The “little season” of suffering, unleashed directly by Satan with God’s permission. “Behold, all that he has is in your hand. Only against him do not stretch out your hand” (Job 1:12 ESV). God gave the boundary, but He allowed the storm.

Part 3: The Restoration. Job doesn’t understand. He rails. He questions. He demands an audience with the Almighty. But through it all, he clings to one rock-solid truth: “Though he slay me, I will hope in him” (Job 13:15 ESV). He refuses to curse God. He endures. And at the end? “And the Lord restored the fortunes of Job, when he had prayed for his friends. And the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before” (Job 42:10 ESV). He lived 140 more years, saw his children and grandchildren, and died “old and full of days” (Job 42:17 ESV). The sweetness returns. The restoration is complete. The test is passed.

Now, pull the camera back. Way back.

The Macro Pattern: The Millennial Reign and the Little Season.

Revelation 20 paints the same three-act play on a planetary scale.

Act 1: The Millennium. “Then I saw thrones, and seated on them were those to whom the authority to judge was committed… They came to life and reigned with Christ for a thousand years” (Revelation 20:4 ESV). This is the blessed life for the redeemed. A thousand years of peace, justice, and Christ’s direct rule on earth. No sickness. No war. No deception. “He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away” (Revelation 21:4 ESV). This is Job’s beginning, expanded to a global scale.

Act 2: The Little Season. “And when the thousand years are ended, Satan will be released from his prison and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea” (Revelation 20:7-8 ESV). Here it is. The unmaking. The wilderness. Satan, bound and powerless for a millennium, is unleashed for one final, furious campaign. His goal? Exactly what it was with Job: to prove that human loyalty to God is conditional, based on blessing. To “harvest as many souls to his kingdom as possible.” To separate as many from the Father as he can.

Think about the methodology. With Job, Satan used direct, personal catastrophe: loss, pain, betrayal from friends. In the “little season,” his playbook is broader, deeper, and generations in the making. It’s systemic. As I wrote in “The Master’s Blueprint,” if I were Satan preparing for my one shot, I wouldn’t start with monsters. I’d start by possessing the very systems that define human reality:

1. Governments: To make rebellion look like progress, to criminalize righteousness and normalize what God calls abomination.

2. Banks & Finance: To create a global system where compliance equals survival, making dependence on his machinery a practical necessity.

3. Education: To methodically erase the knowledge of God from generation to generation, teaching children they are cosmic accidents with no purpose.

4. Media & Entertainment: To control the narrative, shape desire, glorify sin, mock purity, and anesthetize the conscience with endless distraction.

5. Healthcare & Food:To pose as the great healer and provider, offering solutions to problems he helped create, making humanity grateful to its captor.

Look around. The possession is not future-tense. It is the air we breathe. This is the “ash heap” of our age. The loss of truth, the plague of confusion, the betrayal by institutions we were told to trust. These are our boils, our collapsing house, our “friends” who compound our suffering with lies.

Act 3: The Final Restoration. “And they marched up over the broad plain of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city, but fire came down from heaven and consumed them, and the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur” (Revelation 20:9-10 ESV). The test ends. The Adversary is defeated. And then? “Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth… And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God… He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God” (Revelation 21:1-3 ESV). Eternal restoration. The New Jerusalem. This is Job’s “twice as much as before,” perfected and eternal.

Why This Test? The Question in the Heavens.

So why? Why would a good God, after a thousand years of peace, unleash the Destroyer again? For the same reason He allowed it with Job: to prove, once and for all, the nature of love.

With Job, the question Satan hissed was: “Does Job fear God for no reason? Have you not put a hedge around him and his house and all that he has on every side?… But stretch out your hand and touch all that he has, and he will curse you to your face” (Job 1:9-11 ESV). Satan’s accusation was that Job’s faithfulness was transactional. Remove the blessings, and the loyalty evaporates.

The “little season” asks the same question of humanity, post-millennium: “Do they follow you because it’s easy? Because you rule with an iron rod of peace? Or do they love you for who you are?” It is the ultimate purification. It separates the saints from the sunshine soldiers. It reveals who has built their house on the rock of relationship with Christ, and who has merely enjoyed the pleasant weather of His reign.

This is our Job test. Every one of us. Right now.

We are not in the millennial peace. We are in the thick of the “little season.” Some date its start to periods of profound spiritual and societal shift, like 1776, arguing that the chains of restraint came off then, allowing the systematic deception of the “five pillars” to accelerate. Whether you pin a date to it or not, the spiritual reality is clear: the pressure is on. The lies are sophisticated, beautiful, and woven into the fabric of daily life. The offer is to minimize suffering, to take the wide, convenient path, to say the right things and do the necessary deeds to make the pain stop.

My daily, recurring prayer is for my family, for those I love, for you reading this: Lord, let us endure. Let us keep our eyes, our focus, our faith, our hope on Jesus. Let us be like Job, who, when everything was taken, said, “The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord” (Job 1:21 ESV).

But I am skeptical. I look at the sheer scale of the deception, the control over money, food, medicine, information, government, and I fear most will fail the test. The wide path is too smooth, too well-lit. The cost of the narrow path, in this season, is rising by the day.

The Antidote is Not Information, It Is Intimacy.

Job’s friends failed him because they had a formula. Suffering = Sin. Their theology was a spreadsheet. They knew about God, but they did not know God. In his agony, Job cried out for the living God: “Oh, that I knew where I might find him, that I might come even to his seat! I would lay my case before him and fill my mouth with arguments” (Job 23:3-4 ESV). He didn’t want explanations. He wanted Him.

This is our only defense in Satan’s little season. Not better conspiracy theories. Not a more fortified bunker. Not a more precise timeline of the end. It is to know the Shepherd’s voice so intimately that every other voice sounds foreign. It is to be so rooted in the Word that we can spot the twist in the third sentence. It is to have a faith that is not a transaction for blessings, but a relationship that survives the ash heap.

When God finally speaks to Job out of the whirlwind, He doesn’t give him answers. He gives him Himself. He reveals His majesty, His power, His sovereign wisdom. And Job’s response is the only one possible: “I had heard of you by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees you; therefore I despise myself, and repent in dust and ashes” (Job 42:5-6 ESV).

That is the transformation. From hearing about to seeing. That is what the “little season” is meant to forge in us. A faith that moves from the ear to the eye. From theory to sight.

The restoration for Job came after he prayed for his friends, the very ones who had compounded his pain. His final act before blessing was an act of grace for his accusers. Our victory, too, will be sealed not in our personal righteousness alone, but in our Christ-like love for a world, and even for brothers and sisters, who are profoundly deceived and deceiving.

So, are you in the blessed beginning, the painful middle, or awaiting the restoration? For most of us alive today, the answer is the middle. The ash heap. The “little season.” The pressure is turning up. The five pillars are bending the world toward a single, final choice.

Will we, like Job’s wife, see only the pain and advise a curse? Will we, like his friends, trust in dead formulas and accuse the suffering? Or will we, like Job, hold onto the character of God even when we cannot see His plan, and say, “Though he slay me, I will hope in him”?

The test is not about understanding why. It’s about holding onto Who.

The wilderness is not your punishment. It’s your proving ground. And the promise for those who endure is not just a double portion in this life. It is a life, whole and eternal, beside our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, in a New Jerusalem where the former things, the ash, the boils, the lies, the little season, will never even be remembered.

Hold on. The middle of the story is always the hardest part to read. But the Author knows how it ends. And for those who remain steadfast, the last page is glory.

This article is for my subscribers, but please, if it resonates, share it freely with anyone in your circle who might need these words.

This one is longer than usual. It’s less a broadcast and more a reflection. So the message you take from it will be yours alone. Two people can read the same sentences and walk away with two different conversations with God. I don’t pretend to know things that others do not. But I pray on these matters and wait for the Father to make clear to me what needs to be known if and when it they need to be known.

The morning silence here is different today. It’s not the quiet of peace, but the quiet before a storm you can feel in your bones. I’ve been sitting with Revelation 20, the passage about the thousand-year binding and the “little season.” And a chilling clarity has settled over me. We have misunderstood the timeline.

We read about Satan being bound for a thousand years, then released “for a little while,” and we think, Well, that’s a future problem. That’s after the millennium. We file it away as distant prophecy. But what if that’s the very illusion he wants us to buy?

What if the “thousand years” isn’t just a future period of peace, but a description of his current, restricted mode of operation? And what if the “little season” of release isn’t a sudden switch he flips, but the crescendo of a deception he has been rehearsing for millennia?

Think like a strategist for a moment. If you were the father of lies, and you knew your final act was a short, intense campaign to deceive the nations, a “little season”, how would you prepare? You wouldn’t wait for the season to start planting seeds. You’d plant them generations ago. You’d cultivate the soil of human thought, year after year, century after century, so that when you were finally unleashed, the harvest would be instantaneous and global. The fruit would already be ripe on the vine.

John sees the vision: an angel with a great chain seizes the dragon, binds him, throws him into the bottomless pit, and shuts it over him “so that he might not deceive the nations any longer, until the thousand years were ended” (Revelation 20:3 ESV).

Then, the release. “And when the thousand years are ended (some say this was 1776), Satan will be released from his prison and will come out to deceive the nations that are at the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them for battle; their number is like the sand of the sea” (Revelation 20:7-8 ESV).

The deception is so complete, so universal, it gathers a number “like the sand of the sea.” That isn’t a last-minute marketing campaign. That is the payoff of a long, patient, multi-generational investment. He has been writing the script, casting the roles, and building the set since the Garden.

So why does Scripture ring with constant warnings to us, the believers, the faithful? Why does Jesus look His disciples in the eye and say, “See, I have told you beforehand” (Matthew 24:25 ESV)? Why does Paul warn of “fierce wolves” coming “from among your own selves” (Acts 20:29-30 ESV)? Why does John plead, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits” (1 John 4:1 ESV)?

Because the dress rehearsals are now. The pre-season games are being played in our lifetimes. The lies are being road-tested on us.

If I were Satan, preparing for my one shot at the whole world, my “little season,” I wouldn’t waste it on obvious evil. I would orchestrate the greatest seduction in history. And I would start by taking control of the systems that shape human reality. I would possess:

• Governments: To craft laws that normalize what God calls abomination and criminalize what He calls righteousness. To make rebellion look like progress.

• Banks & Finance: To create a global system of control where buying and selling is tied to compliance. To make dependence on his system a practical necessity.

• Education Systems: To systematically remove the knowledge of God from generation after generation. To teach children they are cosmic accidents with no purpose, no Creator, no moral compass beyond their own feelings.

• Media & Entertainment: To control the narrative, to shape desire, to glorify sin, to mock purity, and to anesthetize the conscience with endless distraction.

• Healthcare & Food Systems: To present himself as the great healer and provider, offering solutions to the problems he helped create, making humanity grateful to its captor.

Look around. The possession is not future-tense. It is in progress. These are the channels of the long deception. This is the drip-feed of the lie, administered over centuries, making the unthinkable thinkable, the immoral moral, and the absurd normal.

And his primary target? The elect. “For false christs and false prophets will arise and perform great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect” (Matthew 24:24 ESV). Notice the terrifying modifier: if possible. He will try. And his method will not be a pitchfork and red suit. It will be, as Paul warned, “an angel of light” (2 Corinthians 11:14 ESV). His servants will appear as “servants of righteousness” (2 Corinthians 11:15 ESV). The deception will be beautiful, reasonable, compassionate, and miraculous. It will have the appearance of godliness but deny its power (2 Timothy 3:5).

This is why the warnings are for us. Not to scare us, but to sober us. To snap us out of the slumber of assuming our faith is a personal accessory rather than a wartime identity.

So how do we stand? How do we ensure we are not the “possible” in “if possible, even the elect”?

We must examine the core of our faith. Is it performance or connection? Are we practicing Christianity for the sake of vanity and self-gratification, for the community, the identity, the moral high ground, the emotional lift? Or are we intimately connected to the Father through the Holy Spirit, “practicing what Jesus preached and walking the narrow path of the example he set for us in his time on this earth in the flesh”?

The narrow path is narrow for a reason. It is the path of knowing Him, not just knowing about Him. It is the difference between studying the map of a country and having a lifelong conversation with its King.

When the great deception rises, with its signs and wonders, its offers of peace and unity and technological salvation, it will not be defeated by better arguments. It will be defeated by a deeper knowing. It will be exposed by a company of people who recognize the voice of the Shepherd because they talk to Him every day. Who know the Word so intimately that a subtle twist in the third sentence sets off alarms in their spirit. Whose lives are so entwined with obedience, the daily, small, unseen yeses to His prompts, that the grand, glittering “NO” of the enemy feels foreign, like food that doesn’t nourish.

The defense is not a bunker. It is a relationship. “But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have firmly believed… and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus” (2 Timothy 3:14-15 ESV). The sacred writings are not a charm. They are the Manufacturer’s handbook, describing the true nature of reality against which every counterfeit will be measured.

His “little season” is coming, some say it is now, today. But his long rehearsal is happening right now, on the stage of our culture, in the theater of our minds. The question is not, “Will we see it?” The question is, “Will we recognize it for what it is?”

Will we be so familiar with the truth that the lie, no matter how well-costumed, tastes like ash in our mouths? Will our connection to the Vine be so vital that the dazzling, plastic fruit offered by the world holds no appeal?

The binding of Satan is a limitation on his ability to deceive the nations directly. But it is not a vacation. He is a master planner, using every moment of every age to prepare the world for his masterpiece of fraud. Our calling is not to decode his every move, but to deepen our anchorage to the One who cannot be moved.

Do not be afraid. Be awake. Be rooted. Be so utterly, intimately connected to Christ that when the final, beautiful, miraculous lie unfolds, you will feel nothing but a profound, grieving homesickness for the real King. And you will stand, not in your own strength, but because you are known by Him. And His sheep hear His voice. A stranger’s voice they will not follow.

The chain is real. The pit is sealed. But the echo of his rehearsal is all around us. Listen. And know the Shepherd’s voice amidst the noise.
